You hate single-use plastic, we hate single-use plastic, the earth hates single-use plastic. So we decided to do something about it. This year the Spiegeltent & Pleasure Gardens is binning all single-use plastic – starting with plastic glasses. All our beers are being served in reusable cups so they don’t end up in with the dolphins. We’re really excited to do this, and appreciate you helping us achieve it.
Also making this possible are Sky Ocean Rescue, who are sponsoring the reusable pint glasses. Sky have a strong history of taking on environmental issues. Ten years ago, they became the world’s first carbon neutral media company and have remained carbon neutral since.
Following Sky Rainforest Rescue, where they raised more than £9million to save the rainforests, helping to keep a billion trees standing in Acre, Brazil, Sky Ocean Rescue aims to shine a spotlight on the issues affecting ocean health. They plan to find innovative solutions to the problem of ocean plastics, and inspire people to make small everyday changes that collectively make a huge difference.
We can recycle glass bottles and jars of any colour. Glass collected is transported to a specialist facility, crushed and used to manufacture new glass bottles in the UK.
Cardboard makes up a large proportion of waste by volume for a variety of industries and can be effectively recycled back into new cardboard. We bale cardboard before delivering it directly to mills in the North West and North East of England. There it is made into packaging materials and fresh cardboard for boxes.
General waste is inevitably produced as part of any business activity, but with Paper Round’s zero-to-landfill service you can rest assured you are taking the most environmentally friendly option. We’re operating a 100% zero-to-landfill service, with waste transported by barge along the Thames to an energy-from-waste facility. Energy generated from incineration is then put back into the National Grid.
